The 100MW/200MWh energy storage power plant in Zhongshan City, China, has officially commenced commercial operation, marking the city’s first standalone energy storage project. By actively participating in grid ancillary service markets, the project has a stable revenue mechanism centered on frequency regulation, delivering rapid and accurate response to support regional grid stability.
For this project, Sineng Electric supplied its 1250 kW centralPCS. Equipped with next-generation enhanced grid-forming technology, world-class IGBT driver technology, and intelligent control algorithms, the PCS excels in key performance metrics, including response speed, command execution latency, and control accuracy.

Since commissioning, the Sineng central PCS has consistently demonstrated advanced performance in secondary frequency regulation services. With millisecond-level response capability, Sineng’s energy storage solution reacts swiftly to grid frequency deviations. The PCS supports flexible and customizable regulation rates of up to 50Pn/s, achieves a response time of ≤5 ms, and maintains regulation accuracy within ±0.5%, meeting the stringent technical requirements of modern power systems.

By delivering fast, accurate, and reliable frequency regulation, the project significantly enhances grid stability and power quality, strengthening the resilience of the local electricity network and supporting secure power supply for millions of households. The project also underscores the pivotal role of advanced PCS technology in unlocking the full potential of standalone energy storage within market-oriented ancillary service frameworks.
