Nextpower Arabia has announced that it will supply 2.25 GW of smart solar tracking systems to Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for the Bisha Solar Project in Saudi Arabia. The project is being developed by a consortium led by ACWA Power and was procured by the Saudi Power Procurement Company under Wave 6 of the Kingdom’s National Renewable Energy Program, which is overseen by the Ministry of Energy.

The Bisha Solar Project is located in the Asir Province and is the largest project under the Wave 6 round. Once completed, it will be one of the largest utility-scale solar power plants in the country. The project is expected to play an important role in expanding Saudi Arabia’s renewable energy capacity and supporting the Kingdom’s long-term plans to reduce carbon emissions and diversify its energy mix.

This order marks the first major project to be executed by Nextpower Arabia, a newly formed joint venture between Nextpower, formerly known as Nextracker, and Abunayyan Holding. The joint venture is now fully operational and focuses on providing localized solar solutions across the Middle East and North Africa region. Through local sales, manufacturing, delivery, and supply chain operations, Nextpower Arabia aims to support faster and more efficient deployment of large solar power plants while also contributing to local industrial and workforce development.

L&T expressed confidence in Nextpower Arabia’s ability to deliver advanced and reliable solar tracking systems for the Bisha project. According to the company, localized production of these systems will help improve efficiency during project execution and reduce both costs and the environmental impact linked to international shipping. The trackers are expected to support higher energy output and long-term performance of the solar plant under local conditions.

Nextpower highlighted that the Middle East and North Africa region is a key strategic market for the company. The Bisha project builds on its long-standing partnerships with ACWA Power and L&T and represents an important milestone for the joint venture with Abunayyan Holding. By localizing manufacturing, Nextpower Arabia plans to provide solar technologies designed to withstand the region’s challenging climate while also strengthening the local supply chain in line with Saudi Arabia’s energy transition goals.

Abunayyan Holding also emphasized that manufacturing solar tracker systems within the Kingdom will support national industrial development and deliver benefits to project partners. The initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to increase local content and build domestic manufacturing capabilities in the renewable energy sector.

Earlier this year, ACWA Power, along with Badeel and Saudi Aramco Power Company, announced plans to invest $8.3 billion in seven large renewable energy projects, adding around 15 GW of capacity to the national grid. With this latest project, Nextpower’s total supported capacity in the MENA region now exceeds 6 GW, reflecting its growing presence in the region’s utility-scale solar market.
