Chu Neng New Energy Signs Strategic Energy Storage Cooperation Pact with Al Rajhi Electrical and Shanghai GREENGRID in Saudi Arabia

Chu Neng New Energy has signed a strategic cooperation agreement on energy storage with Saudi Arabia-based Al Rajhi Electrical and Shanghai GREENGRID, marking a major step toward accelerating energy storage deployment and localization across the Middle East.

The agreement was formally signed in Dammam, in the presence of senior representatives from all three companies, including Liu Runchang, head of Chu Nengโ€™s overseas business division, Nader AlDhakeel, CEO of Al Rajhi Electrical, and Wu Yang, founder of Shanghai GREENGRID.

The collaboration aims to support Saudi Arabiaโ€™s Vision 2030 energy transition strategy and jointly explore the rapidly growing Middle East energy storage market. Under the agreement, Chu Neng will act as Al Rajhi Electricalโ€™s first Chinese strategic partner in the energy storage sector, leveraging its strengths in lithium battery research and development, large-scale manufacturing, and system integration.

Over the next three years, Chu Neng will supply 5.5 GWh of energy storage products to Al Rajhi Electrical to support localized manufacturing and project development across the Middle East. In addition, Chu Neng will provide comprehensive technical support for the construction of Al Rajhi Electricalโ€™s local factory in Saudi Arabia, accelerating the localization of energy storage systems and strengthening regional supply chains.

Shanghai GREENGRID will serve as a key strategic partner and platform support provider, deeply participating across the entire energy storage project lifecycle, including supply chain coordination, cross-border collaboration, and localization support, ensuring systematic execution of Middle East energy storage initiatives.

Al Rajhi Electrical, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the diversified Saudi conglomerate Al Rajhi Group, benefits from strong capital backing and strategic synergies as a major shareholder of ACWA Power. Since 2012, the company has established a leading position in power and automation solutions across industrial, commercial, and residential segments, supported by strong financial resources and robust local operational capabilities.

Shanghai-based GREENGRID specializes in smart grid and renewable energy sectors, offering digital supply chain management and cross-border collaboration solutions. The company has accumulated extensive project experience across Belt and Road markets, including Saudi Arabia and Brazil, enabling manufacturing enterprises to accelerate overseas expansion and localization.
