Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer has held discussions with an Italian parliamentary delegation led by Jacopo Morrone, President of the Italian Parliamentary Bicameral Ecomafia Commission on Climate and Environment, to explore opportunities for strengthening cooperation in renewable energy, sustainability and advanced technologies.

During the meeting, Al Tayer highlighted the long-standing bilateral relations between the UAE and Italy and reaffirmed DEWAโ€™s commitment to working closely with Italian companies and international partners. He emphasised the importance of knowledge exchange, innovation, and the adoption of best practices and advanced technologies to accelerate the transition to clean energy and address climate change challenges.

Al Tayer outlined DEWAโ€™s strategic initiatives supporting Dubaiโ€™s sustainability vision, aligned with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. He also highlighted DEWAโ€™s integration of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, including artificial intelligence, across its operations, enabled by strategic investments in advanced digital infrastructure.

He briefed the delegation on key projects, including the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which currently has a capacity of 3,860 MW and contributes 21.5% to Dubaiโ€™s total energy mix. By 2030, the solar parkโ€™s capacity is expected to exceed 8,000 MW, surpassing the original target of 5,000 MW, and raising the share of clean energy to 36.1%. This expansion is projected to reduce annual carbon emissions by over 8.5 million tonnes. The delegation was also informed about the parkโ€™s advanced photovoltaic and concentrated solar power technologies.
