A delegation from the Canadian High Commission in Zambia paid a courtesy call on Minister of Energy Hon. Makozo Chikote, MP, to discuss potential collaboration opportunities across Zambia’s energy sector, including renewables, power transmission infrastructure, and nuclear development.
The delegation was led by Chargé d’Affaires Corry Van Gaal and included Ryan Clark, Director General for South and Eastern Africa, and Solomon Milimbo, Trade Commissioner. During the meeting, the Canadian delegation commended Zambia’s ongoing energy sector reforms and expressed Canada’s strong interest in supporting investments across the energy value chain, particularly in renewable energy, grid expansion, and advanced power technologies.
Minister Chikote welcomed the engagement and emphasized the need for increased investment in transmission infrastructure to support Zambia’s upcoming electricity generation projects. He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to forging strategic partnerships that enhance energy security, diversify the national energy mix, and promote sustainable development.
The engagement reflects growing bilateral cooperation between Zambia and Canada in advancing sustainable and resilient energy systems.
