Kintetsu World Express, Inc. has taken another step toward cleaner operations by installing a solar power generation system at its warehouse in Prachinburi Province, Thailand. The project has been carried out by its local subsidiary, KWE-Kintetsu World Express (Thailand) Co., Ltd., as part of the groupโ€™s wider push toward decarbonized and sustainable business practices.

The move reflects KWEโ€™s long-term environmental strategy and its growing focus on renewable energy across overseas operations. The company has already received global recognition for its climate actions, having been named an โ€œA Listโ€ company by CDP, a UK-based non-profit organization that evaluates corporate efforts on climate change and environmental transparency. The Thailand solar project turns this strategy into action through direct investment at the local level.

Under the project, an on-site Power Purchase Agreement model has been adopted. A total of 326 solar panels have been installed at the warehouse, with an expected annual power generation of around 307,000 kilowatt-hours. This clean electricity is expected to meet about 96 percent of the warehouseโ€™s yearly power demand, significantly reducing dependence on conventional grid electricity.

The company estimates that the solar system will cut carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 140 metric tons every year. The environmental benefits created through these emission reductions will belong to KWE Thailand. In the future, the company is exploring ways to use these environmental attributes, including possible carbon tax offsets and carbon credit applications within Thailand.

At the group level, KWE has set a clear climate goal to reduce its Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42 percent by 2030, compared to fiscal year 2023 levels. The Thailand warehouse project is seen as a practical step toward achieving this target.

Going ahead, the KWE Group plans to continue rolling out similar initiatives across its global network, adapting its sustainability efforts to local conditions while supporting cleaner logistics operations and contributing positively to local communities.
