Empower New Energy has reported significant progress on the development of two large rooftop solar power plants in Berrechid, near Casablanca, for manufacturing and logistics company Saray Immo and its sister company Tanakoo, marking a major milestone in Morocco’s industrial solar deployment.
The combined projects will deliver a total installed capacity of 5.8 MWp, covering approximately 49,000 square metres of rooftop area. Backed by a 12-year contract and an investment of US$3.5 million, the scope of work includes project financing, engineering, construction, and long-term operation and maintenance.
According to the company, the Tanakoo solar plant has already been commissioned and is currently operational, while construction at the Saray Immo facility is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed shortly.
Once fully commissioned, the two solar installations are expected to generate around 9,600 MWh of clean electricity annually, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 6,000 tonnes per year, and lower energy costs while enhancing operational efficiency for both companies.
The projects are also set to support local industrial development and accelerate Morocco’s transition toward renewable energy, aligning with the country’s broader climate and sustainability objectives.
