Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has directed officials to ensure the timely implementation of the PM-KUSUM and rooftop solar schemes across the state. The instructions were given during a high-level meeting held in Chandigarh, where the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of key development projects and the budget spending of various departments.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister asked senior officials from the energy and renewable energy departments to speed up work related to clean energy projects. He said Haryana must move faster toward renewable energy adoption to reduce its dependence on conventional power sources. A major focus of the discussion was the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme.
The PM-KUSUM scheme aims to support farmers by promoting the use of solar-powered pumps and reducing the use of diesel in agriculture. The Chief Minister instructed the department to accelerate the solarization of agricultural pumps across the state. He said that solar pumps would provide reliable daytime electricity to farmers and help lower the stateโs electricity subsidy burden. The move is also expected to improve water and energy security in rural areas.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, which encourages rooftop solar installations in residential homes. He said this scheme plays an important role in making Haryana more self-reliant in energy production. By installing solar panels on rooftops, households can reduce their monthly electricity bills. The scheme mainly targets middle-class and economically weaker families and aims to support them through subsidies and long-term savings.
Emphasizing transparency and efficiency, the Chief Minister asked officials to remove departmental delays and ensure that the benefits of both central and state schemes reach eligible beneficiaries without unnecessary obstacles. He also directed departments to launch awareness campaigns to inform farmers and homeowners about the financial support available and the long-term advantages of solar energy.
In addition to renewable energy projects, the Chief Minister reviewed the performance of various departments and stressed the proper use of budget allocations before the end of the financial year. He said that effective planning and execution are necessary to achieve development goals.
With this renewed push for solar energy, the Haryana government aims to contribute to national targets of reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable growth. The focus on solar power is expected to benefit both rural and urban areas by providing clean, reliable, and affordable energy solutions.
