Suzlon Energy Limited has announced the formation of a Group Executive Council (GEC) and appointed Ajay Kapur as Group Chief Executive Officer as part of its “Suzlon 2.0” vision to transform into a full-stack renewable energy solutions conglomerate.
The announcement, made on February 24, 2026, outlines a new leadership and organizational structure aimed at steering the company’s strategic expansion beyond wind energy into solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), emerging technologies and diversified business models.
Under the new structure, the Group Executive Council will serve as a strategic body overseeing the company’s medium- and long-term growth agenda. An Executive Management Council, led by the Group CEO, will focus on driving operational transformation and sustainable business growth.
As part of the restructuring, J P Chalasani has been elevated to the Group Executive Council. He will work closely with Chairman and Managing Director Vinod Tanti and Executive Vice Chairman Girish Tanti in shaping key strategic initiatives, mentoring senior leadership and strengthening long-term stakeholder partnerships. Chalasani will continue to serve as a Key Managerial Personnel and report to the Chairman and Managing Director.
Ajay Kapur, who brings more than 36 years of experience across infrastructure, construction, power and heavy metals sectors, has been appointed Group CEO. He previously served as Managing Director of Ambuja Cements Limited, an Adani Group company. At Suzlon, Kapur will report to Vinod Tanti and will be responsible for scaling operations, strengthening organizational capabilities and driving the company’s next phase of growth.
Girish Tanti said the new leadership architecture is designed to provide focused attention to strategic direction, scale-up and management excellence as Suzlon expands its renewable energy portfolio. Chalasani highlighted that the GEC will set enterprise-wide priorities, shape portfolio strategy and allocate capital across existing and emerging businesses.
Kapur said he looks forward to building on Suzlon’s legacy to drive sustainable growth, operational excellence and long-term value creation, describing the opportunity to contribute to the global energy transition as both a responsibility and a privilege.
The company also reiterated its environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments. Suzlon is the first Indian energy company to join the Climate Group’s RE100 initiative, targeting 100% renewable energy use across its manufacturing facilities by 2030 and advancing 24/7 carbon-free electricity implementation. By joining EV100, the company aims to electrify its vehicle fleet by 2035 and reduce 24% of Scope 1 emissions.
In FY24-25, Suzlon reported an 88.51% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emission intensity, achieved 90.14% zero waste to landfill, and improved renewable energy consumption and resource efficiency year-on-year, according to the company.
