Cambodia is preparing to mark a major milestone in its renewable energy journey with the launch of the Chheu Tom solar power complex. The project is located in the Krakor district of Pursat province, covering areas in the villages of Kandal and Krang Khvuen. With a massive generation capacity of 930 megawatts (MW), the facility is expected to become the largest solar power installation in Southeast Asia once it is connected to the national electricity grid later this month.

The project will overtake Vietnam’s well-known Dau Tieng Solar Power Complex, which has a capacity of around 500 MW and has been one of the largest solar installations in the region. The completion of the Chheu Tom solar complex marks an important achievement for Cambodia’s growing renewable energy sector.

Government officials have stated that the addition of this large solar facility will play a key role in strengthening the country’s energy supply. The project will increase domestic power generation and help reduce reliance on fossil fuels for electricity production.
