Vena Group has signed a major Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth KRW 1 trillion with the provincial government of Chungcheongnam-do and the local administration of Taean-gun to develop large-scale green energy projects in the region. The agreement marks an important step in expanding clean energy infrastructure in South Korea and strengthening the countryโ€™s transition toward a low-carbon economy.

The MoU signing ceremony was held on March 6 at the Swissรดtel The Stamford in Singapore. The event was attended by several senior officials and representatives from both the company and the government. Key participants included Nitin Apte, Daniel Astbury, and Kwangjin Cheong. Government representatives present at the ceremony included Tae-heum Kim and Se-ro Ga.

Under the agreement, Vena Group plans to invest approximately KRW 1 trillion by the year 2030 to develop utility-scale green energy projects in Chungcheongnam-do, particularly in Taean-gun. The projects will include large offshore wind developments and other renewable energy initiatives aimed at increasing the supply of clean electricity in the region.

Local authorities have committed to supporting the projects through administrative assistance, including help with permits and regulatory procedures in line with the applicable laws and policies. This collaboration is expected to help accelerate project development and ensure smoother implementation.

Once the projects become operational, they are expected to generate more than 1.6 terawatt-hours (TWh) of clean electricity each year. This level of generation could help avoid around 740,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually by replacing electricity produced from fossil fuel sources.

Company leaders highlighted that the investment reflects Vena Groupโ€™s long-term commitment to South Koreaโ€™s energy transition and its confidence in the countryโ€™s decarbonisation goals. The company also emphasized its intention to work closely with local communities and government authorities while developing these projects.

Officials from Chungcheongnam-do noted that the investment will support the provinceโ€™s carbon neutrality targets and strengthen the local clean energy supply chain. They also said the projects could contribute to regional economic development while advancing environmental sustainability in South Korea.
