Vikram Solar’s PowerHive Launches ‘VION’ Lithium Battery Brand for Home Backup and Electric Mobility

PowerHive, the battery and energy storage division of Vikram Solar Limited, has launched its flagship lithium battery brand VION, marking the company’s entry into distributed battery storage solutions for electric mobility and residential power backup.

The new brand is designed to deliver high-performance lithium battery systems tailored to India’s evolving energy needs. The initial product portfolio includes five commercial battery products across three categories: inverter batteries, integrated inverter-battery systems, and batteries for electric rickshaws.

For residential applications, the VION range offers battery capacities from 1.2 kWh to 15 kWh for use with UPS and inverter systems. The solutions are designed to provide backup durations of over 3 hours, 6 hours, and 12 hours, depending on the configuration, enabling households to maintain power supply during grid outages. The larger 5 kWh to 15 kWh battery packs are also capable of supporting high-power appliances such as air conditioners during outages.

According to the company, the batteries are built with advanced lithium technology that makes them up to five times lighter than conventional batteries, while supporting fast charging and up to 3,000 life cycles. They offer efficiencies of up to 97%, require minimal maintenance, and are backed by warranties of up to 60 months.

PowerHive also introduced PowerStack 1.0, an integrated inverter-battery solution available in a 1.2 kWh configuration. The system features a compact design with wall-mounted and tabletop options and includes a smart battery management system (BMS) for enhanced safety and performance.

The VION portfolio further includes a 5 kWh lithium battery for e-rickshaws, built using LiFePO₄ prismatic cells and compliant with AIS-156 safety standards, targeting the growing electric three-wheeler market.

The launch aligns with Vikram Solar’s broader strategy to expand into battery energy storage systems (BESS) and integrated clean energy solutions, with plans to build 5 GWh BESS manufacturing capacity by FY27 and 7.5 GWh battery cell capacity by FY29.
