KPI Green Energy Limited, a well-known renewable energy company in India, has announced a new milestone in its operational growth. On March 12, 2026, the company revealed that it has successfully energized an additional 35 MWp of solar power capacity. With this latest addition, the companyโ€™s total operational Independent Power Producer (IPP) capacity has reached 589 MWp. This achievement reflects the companyโ€™s steady progress in expanding its renewable energy portfolio and strengthening its role in Indiaโ€™s growing clean energy sector.

The company currently manages a large IPP portfolio of about 2.17 GWp. Several projects are already under development, and the company is planning to commission another 1,582 MWp in the near future. This expansion is part of KPI Green Energyโ€™s strategy to gradually move toward a strong asset-backed IPP model. While the company has built strong expertise in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services over the years, it is now focusing more on owning and operating renewable power assets. Through this approach, the company aims to create stable and long-term revenue streams supported by Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), many of which typically run for around 25 years.

A number of key projects are contributing to this growth. In January 2026, the company successfully commissioned a 240 MWp solar project at the Khavda Solar Park. The power generated from this project is supplied under a power purchase agreement with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL), one of the major state utilities responsible for power procurement in Gujarat.

In addition, KPI Green Energy has also achieved early grid synchronization for a 92.15 MWp hybrid renewable energy project. This project reached grid connectivity ahead of its scheduled completion date of July 2026, demonstrating the companyโ€™s strong project execution capabilities. The company is also working on other large-scale developments, including a 250 MW solar power project and a 370 MW hybrid renewable project. Both of these projects are expected to be fully completed by October 2026.

Apart from solar and wind energy, the company is also expanding into energy storage solutions. Its subsidiary, Sun Drops Energia Limited, recently signed an agreement with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited to develop a large standalone battery energy storage system with a capacity of 445 MW and 890 MWh. This project is expected to support grid stability and help integrate more renewable energy into the power system.
