NTPC Limited Explores Power and Mining Collaboration with Malawi at BES 2026

In a move to strengthen bilateral energy cooperation, the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of NTPC Limited met with H.E. Dr. Jean Mathanga, Minister of Energy and Mining of Malawi, to explore opportunities for collaboration in the power and mining sectors.

The interaction took place on the sidelines of the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026, held from March 19–22, 2026 at Yashobhoomi under the aegis of the Ministry of Power, Government of India.

Senior NTPC officials, including representatives from NETRA and NVVN, were also present during the meeting. Discussions centred on identifying avenues for joint development of power infrastructure projects in Malawi, covering both thermal and renewable energy segments, alongside potential collaboration in the mining sector.

During the meeting, Dr. Jean Mathanga extended an invitation to NTPC to visit Malawi to further explore investment opportunities and co-develop energy projects in the country.

The engagement highlights NTPC’s continued focus on expanding its international footprint and strengthening partnerships across emerging markets to support sustainable energy development.
