Trinasolar, a global leader in smart PV and energy storage solutions, has announced its participation in Solar & Storage Live Africa at Booth H5-D34, where it is presenting its integrated smart energy solutions aimed at supporting reliable solar and storage deployment across Africaโs rapidly evolving energy landscape.
At the event, the company is showcasing a portfolio of advanced technologies designed for the next phase of solar deployment. These include the Vertex N 750W module, Elementa 3 energy storage system, TrinaTracker Vanguard 1P tracking system, and Trinabot automation technologies. Together, these solutions enable developers, EPCs, and energy providers to enhance project performance, improve system reliability, and deliver cost-effective renewable energy solutions across utility-scale, commercial and industrial (C&I), and hybrid solar-plus-storage applications.
Trinasolarโs participation comes as it strengthens its leadership position in South Africaโs solar market, where it currently holds the number one market share. A key milestone underscoring this momentum is the successful delivery of the 510MW Khauta Solar Project, one of the largest solar installations in the country. Located in Welkom in the Free State Province, the project was executed in collaboration with WBHO, one of South Africaโs leading construction and EPC firms.
The Khauta project comprises two contracts completed simultaneously โ Khauta South (352.5MW) and Khauta West (157.8MW) โ reflecting both the scale and pace of solar deployment in the country. Trinasolar supplied high-performance modules and provided comprehensive commercial, technical, logistics, and aftersales support throughout the projectโs implementation.
In addition to this milestone, Trinasolar continues to expand its collaboration with leading developers in South Africa, including a strategic partnership with Mulilo. As part of this partnership, the company has signed a contract for the 220MW Orkney Solar Project, further strengthening its presence in the utility-scale segment and supporting the growth of large-scale renewable energy projects.
Beyond these developments, Trinasolar is expanding its footprint in South Africa through a growing pipeline of utility-scale solar projects and strategic collaborations. Its current and upcoming portfolio exceeds 2 GW of solar capacity, highlighting its role in addressing the countryโs increasing demand for renewable energy and contributing to a more diversified energy mix.
โSouth Africa is entering a defining phase of solar growth, driven by rising electricity demand, expanding energy wheeling frameworks, and the rapid scale-up of commercial and industrial projects. Trinasolar is proud to be at the centre of this transition โ bringing together high-performance solar technologies, advanced storage solutions, and a proven track record of large-scale project delivery to help our customers build a more resilient and cost-competitive energy future,โ said Zaheer Khan, Regional Director โ South Africa at Trinasolar MEA.
In parallel with its technological contributions, Trinasolar has also supported project partners and local communities through various initiatives, including Wellness Day contributions and community outreach programs such as sponsoring soccer and netball uniforms. These efforts reflect the companyโs commitment to responsible project development and its broader social impact.
As Africaโs energy transition accelerates, Trinasolar continues to position itself as a long-term partner for developers, EPCs, and energy providers, offering the technology, expertise, and execution capabilities required to drive the next phase of renewable energy growth across the continent.
