NTPC Limited, Indiaโ€™s largest integrated power utility, has reported strong operational performance for FY26, reinforcing its role in ensuring energy security while advancing the countryโ€™s clean energy transition.

The company generated 432.2 billion units (BU) of electricity during the financial year, maintaining a stable and reliable power supply across the nation. NTPC also recorded its highest-ever annual capacity addition, commissioning 9,619 MW in FY26, significantly strengthening Indiaโ€™s overall power infrastructure across both conventional and renewable energy segments.

In line with its renewable energy expansion strategy, NTPC added 5,488 MW of green capacity during the year, spanning solar, wind, and pumped storage projects. This development marks a notable step in the companyโ€™s transition towards a more sustainable and low-carbon energy portfolio.

On the conventional energy front, NTPC reported coal production of 48.65 million metric tonnes (MMT), reflecting a 6.22% year-on-year growth. The increase supports consistent fuel availability for thermal power generation, contributing to grid stability.

The company also registered robust growth in power trading, with volumes reaching 46.52 BU in FY26, up 13% compared to the previous year, thereby improving electricity accessibility across regions.

Sustainability efforts remained a key highlight, with NTPC achieving 105% ash utilisation, amounting to 109 MMT. This performance underscores its leadership in circular resource management and environmentally responsible operations.

NTPCโ€™s total installed capacity currently exceeds 89 GW, with an additional 32 GW under construction. The company aims to scale its capacity to 149 GW by 2032, including 60 GW from renewable sources, supported by a diversified mix of thermal, hydro, solar, and wind projects.

Beyond power generation, NTPC continues to diversify into emerging energy domains such as e-mobility, battery storage, pumped hydro, waste-to-energy, nuclear power, and green hydrogen, positioning itself at the forefront of Indiaโ€™s evolving energy landscape.
