responsAbility, a Swiss impact investment manager, has announced an investment of up to USD 15 million in Skye Renewables Energy Pte Limited to support the expansion of renewable energy projects across Southeast Asia. The funding will focus on key markets, including the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore, and also marks responsAbilityโ€™s entry into the climate finance sectors of Malaysia and the Philippines.

Skye Renewables, based in Singapore, operates as an energy-as-a-service company and develops solar infrastructure mainly for commercial and industrial clients. Its work includes rooftop solar systems and integrated energy solutions for industries such as manufacturing, retail, and pharmaceuticals. With the new investment, the company plans to scale up its operations and increase its installed capacity to several hundred megawatts over the next five years.

This investment is part of responsAbilityโ€™s larger USD 500 million climate investment strategy for Asia. The strategy aims to support private sector infrastructure projects that can deliver measurable reductions in carbon emissions. By investing in companies like Skye Renewables, responsAbility is focusing on solutions that can grow quickly and contribute to cleaner energy systems in developing markets.

Ross Coull, founder of Skye Renewables, said the investment reflects the efforts made by the company since its establishment in 2021. He added that the funding will help accelerate growth and expand its presence across Southeast Asia. Representatives from responsAbility also stated that Skye Renewables fits well with their investment approach, as it combines local expertise with the ability to deliver large-scale renewable energy projects.

Existing investors in Skye Renewables, including British International Investment and Idemitsu Kosan, have supported the new funding round. They believe the additional capital will help industrial clients shift towards cleaner energy and meet their decarbonization targets. The support is expected to strengthen the companyโ€™s position in the region and improve access to reliable green energy solutions.

As Southeast Asia continues to experience rising energy demand, investments like this are becoming increasingly important. Expanding renewable energy infrastructure can help reduce dependence on fossil fuels and support long-term sustainability goals. The partnership between responsAbility and Skye Renewables highlights the growing role of private investment in driving the energy transition and building a cleaner energy future in the region.
