The Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency has invited bids for installing 6.5 MW of rooftop and small-scale solar projects across the state. This move is aimed at increasing renewable energy capacity by promoting distributed solar systems ranging from 1 kW to 1 MW.
The project has been divided into two regions to ensure balanced development. These include the Kumaon Division under Zone I and the Garhwal Division under Zone II. The plan is to expand solar adoption across different parts of Uttarakhand in a structured manner.
Selected bidders will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle. This includes site surveys, system design, manufacturing, supply, testing, installation, and commissioning. They will also need to set up net metering systems. In addition, companies must provide a five-year warranty on solar components along with five years of operation and maintenance support to ensure smooth functioning of the systems over time.
To qualify, bidders must have prior experience in installing at least 5 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar projects on government buildings in the last five years. They must also have valid approvals from module and inverter manufacturers. A Class A contractor certificate from the Electrical Safety Department is required. Companies must also have at least one service center within Uttarakhand to provide local support.
The total project cost is estimated at around โน40.67 crore. Bidders need to submit an earnest money deposit of โน65.7 lakh. The selected contractors will have to provide a performance bank guarantee of 5% of the project value. The timeline for completing the projects is set at 10 months.
All equipment must comply with the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM). A penalty of 0.5% per week will be charged for delays. The last date to submit bids is May 8, 2026.
