Dahbashi Engineering has transitioned to on-grid solar power at its headquarters in Dubai Industrial City, marking a strategic step toward cleaner energy use and operational cost reduction.

The company said the newly installed solar system is expected to meet nearly 50% of the facilityโ€™s annual electricity demand, supporting its broader sustainability goals and aligning with the United Arab Emiratesโ€™s renewable energy ambitions.

Through the Shams Dubai net-metering framework, excess electricity generated from the solar installation will be exported back to the grid, contributing to Dubaiโ€™s clean energy infrastructure.

The transition comes amid rapid growth in the UAEโ€™s solar market, with increasing demand from commercial and industrial users seeking alternatives to conventional power sources and aiming to improve energy efficiency.

Saleem Ahmed said the move to on-grid solar reflects the companyโ€™s long-term strategy to combine environmental responsibility with energy stability.

The solar project is expected to reduce electricity-related operational costs by around 30%, highlighting the growing financial and sustainability benefits of behind-the-meter solar installations for industrial businesses in the region.

Dahbashi Engineering said the current solar capacity at its Dubai Industrial City facility is capped at 450 kW under existing regulations based on connected load. However, the company plans to use the project as a model for future renewable energy deployment across its wider operations in the GCC and the Indian subcontinent.

Founded in 1985, Dahbashi Engineering operates across 14 locations in the GCC and India, supplying earthmoving equipment spare parts and traction battery solutions, with a workforce of more than 200 employees.
