Mozambique Relaunches Tender for 30 MW Solar PV Project in Dondo

The Government of Mozambique has relaunched the tender process for a 30 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Dondo district, Sofala Province, as part of its ongoing efforts to scale renewable energy deployment. The initiative is being led by the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy (MIREME) in coordination with the Energy Regulatory Authority (ARENE).

The tender involves a Request for Pre-Qualification (RFQ) to select an Independent Power Producer (IPP) responsible for the development, financing, construction, and operation of the project.

The project falls under the Renewable Energy Auctions Promotion Programme (PROLER), launched in 2020 to enhance generation capacity, diversify the energy mix, and attract private sector participation through competitive bidding. The programme is supported by the European Union and implemented with assistance from Agence Française de Développement (AFD), targeting around 120 MW of solar and wind capacity.

Interested developers must submit expressions of interest by June 22, 2026, with the request for proposals phase expected later in the year. The relaunch reflects Mozambique’s continued push to accelerate clean energy investment and strengthen its power sector.
