SWELECT Energy Systems Limited has announced the successful commissioning of a 5 MW solar power plant in Tamil Nadu. The project is located across Perumpoondi and Nedumpirai villages in Cheyyar Taluk of Tiruvannamalai district and became operational on May 2, 2026.
The newly commissioned solar facility has been connected to the grid through the Sirungattur 110/33-11 KV substation operated by TANTRANSCO. The plant is integrated at a 110 KV level, allowing efficient transmission of clean electricity through the state’s existing power infrastructure. This ensures that the generated solar power can be distributed smoothly to end users.
The power generated from this project has been allocated to the Airports Authority of India for use at Chennai Airport. The supply is being carried out under a third-party power sale arrangement using the intra-state open access mechanism in Tamil Nadu. This model allows private renewable energy developers to directly sell electricity to large consumers by using the public transmission network.
With the commissioning of this 5 MW plant, SWELECT has now completed a total of 10 MW capacity dedicated to the Airports Authority of India. This marks an important milestone in the company’s ongoing partnership with AAI and reflects its growing role in supporting clean energy adoption in large infrastructure projects.
The company shared this development through an official disclosure to BSE Limited and National Stock Exchange of India Limited, maintaining transparency with investors and stakeholders. The announcement was formally signed by R. Chellappan, Whole-time Director and Vice Chairman of the company.
This project highlights the increasing shift of major infrastructure facilities, including airports, towards renewable energy to reduce carbon emissions. By expanding its solar capacity in Tamil Nadu, SWELECT continues to strengthen its position in India’s renewable energy sector while contributing to sustainable development goals.
