Vena Energy has officially begun the construction of two major solar power projects in Ilocos Norte, Philippines, marking a significant step forward in the country’s renewable energy transition. The projects, known as the Currimao Solar Project and the Pasuquin Solar Project, will add a combined capacity of 380 megawatts peak (MWp) to the nation’s growing clean energy portfolio. The Currimao facility will contribute 106 MWp, while the larger Pasuquin project will generate 274 MWp.
The groundbreaking ceremony highlighted Vena Energy’s continued commitment to supporting the Philippines in achieving its renewable energy targets. The company stated that the projects are designed to strengthen the country’s energy security while reducing dependence on fossil fuels. Once operational, the solar facilities are expected to generate substantial amounts of clean electricity capable of supplying power to thousands of households across the region.
The development also aligns with the Philippine government’s broader strategy to increase the share of renewable energy in the national energy mix. Officials noted that large-scale solar developments are essential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and addressing the long-term impacts of climate change.
