Iberdrola Australia, the Australian subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group, has completed installing more than 600,000 solar panels at the Broadsound Power Plant in Queensland. The project represents a significant step in advancing large-scale renewable infrastructure in the region
.The Broadsound facility brings together 376 MW of photovoltaic capacity and a 180 MW battery energy storage system, strengthening the Groupโs commitment to renewable solutions that are both reliable and flexible.
Once operational, it will supply clean energy equivalent to the consumption of around 145,000 homes across Australia, supporting national efforts toward a more sustainable energy mix. The power plant also features advanced solar tracker technology, enabling panels to follow the sunโs movement and increase overall energy capture.
With this milestone, Iberdrola reinforces its role as one of the major contributors to the Australian energy sector. The company already operates 2,500 MW of installed capacity in the country, spanning wind, solar and storage assets. Its active pipeline and ongoing development work reflect a long-term vision centered on clean energy expansion.
Looking ahead, Iberdrola plans to invest more than โฌ1 billion in Australia by 2029. This commitment underscores the Groupโs broader international growth strategy while supporting the countryโs transition toward a more resilient, renewable-powered future.
