YamnaCo Ltd, through its wholly owned subsidiary YamnaCo India Private Limited, has received approval from the Andhra Pradesh State Government for the first phase of its proposed green ammonia project in India. The project is planned to be developed in two phases and is expected to have a total production capacity of one million tons per annum (1 MTPA) of green ammonia once fully completed.

The Andhra Pradesh State Cabinet has approved the first phase of the project, which will include a production capacity of 0.5 MTPA. The company plans to invest nearly USD 1 billion for this phase. The approval marks an important development for the company as it continues to expand its clean energy portfolio globally.

As part of the approval, the Andhra Pradesh Government has agreed to allocate the required land in Chillakur and Kota Mandal in Tirupati District, close to Krishnapatnam Port. The strategic location near the port is expected to support export-oriented green energy infrastructure and improve logistics for future international supply of green ammonia.

The project will also receive benefits under Andhra Pradesh’s Integrated Clean Energy (ICE) Policy. These incentives include capital subsidies, tax-related benefits, and support for grid connectivity. The policy support is expected to help accelerate the development and implementation of the project while encouraging investments in the clean energy sector.

Green ammonia is emerging as an important solution in the global energy transition due to its potential use as a low-carbon fuel and hydrogen carrier. Several countries and companies are investing in green hydrogen and green ammonia projects as industries work toward reducing carbon emissions and achieving climate goals.

Commenting on the approval, Yamna CEO Abdelaziz Yatribi said the Andhra Pradesh project is an important step in the company’s strategy to build a diversified global clean energy portfolio. He appreciated the support provided by the Andhra Pradesh Government under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and praised the state’s vision of developing Andhra Pradesh into a Green Hydrogen Valley.

The approval also reflects Andhra Pradesh’s increasing focus on becoming a major destination for clean energy investments. With supportive policies, port connectivity, and large-scale renewable energy opportunities, the state is attracting several green hydrogen and green ammonia projects aimed at supporting India’s energy transition goals.
