Eurohold Bulgaria and 360 Energy have commissioned a battery energy storage system (BESS) at a 161-MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) facility in Bulgaria, upgrading the project into a hybrid renewable energy asset.
The BESS has been installed at the Maglizh solar park in south-central Bulgaria, enhancing the plant’s operational flexibility by enabling storage of surplus solar generation and improved dispatch during peak demand periods.
With the integration of battery storage, the 161-MWp facility is expected to deliver more stable power output, reduce intermittency-related challenges, and support greater grid reliability within Bulgaria’s evolving renewable energy framework.
The upgrade reflects the growing shift across European renewable markets toward hybridisation of solar assets, where co-located storage is increasingly deployed to optimise asset performance, improve market participation, and reduce curtailment risks.
The Maglizh project now operates as a combined solar-plus-storage installation, positioning it as a key example of Bulgaria’s accelerating transition toward integrated clean energy infrastructure.
