TotalEnergies ENEOS Completes Phase 2 Rooftop Solar Expansion For Ceres Manufacturing Facility In Bandung, Indonesia

TotalEnergies ENEOS has successfully completed the second phase of a rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) installation for PT. Perusahaan Industri Ceres, a major chocolate and confectionery manufacturer in Indonesia, at its production facility in Bandung. This expansion builds on the first phase of the project, which delivered 2.2 megawatt-peak (MWp) of solar capacity in September 2024.

In the newly completed Phase 2, around 2,400 additional solar panels have been installed, adding 1.4 MWp of capacity. This extension increases the site’s ability to generate clean electricity on-site and produces more than 1,380 megawatt-hours (MWh) of renewable energy every year.

With both phases combined, the total installed solar capacity now stands at 3.6 MWp, capable of generating approximately 4,630 MWh of electricity annually, which is enough to meet around 12% of the facility’s total energy demand.

The project has been developed under a 15-year long-term energy agreement between TotalEnergies ENEOS and Ceres. Under this arrangement, TotalEnergies ENEOS is responsible for developing, financing, constructing, and operating the rooftop solar system. Ceres does not need to invest any upfront capital and instead pays only for the electricity generated by the system.

This model allows the company to reduce energy costs while also cutting carbon emissions and improving the sustainability of its manufacturing operations.According to Alexandru Buzatu, Director of TotalEnergies ENEOS Renewables Distributed Generation Asia Pacific, the project reflects the value of long-term partnerships in accelerating clean energy adoption.

He highlighted that beyond cost savings, the collaboration helps industrial customers reduce emissions while focusing on their core business operations, supported by the technical expertise of a dedicated energy partner.

From Ceres’ perspective, represented by President Director Nancy Florencia, the completion of both phases marks an important milestone in the company’s sustainability journey. She noted that the project demonstrates a strong commitment to cleaner production practices and supports Indonesia’s broader national target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2060 or earlier.

The combined solar installation is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 4,200 tons per year.Overall, the expanded rooftop solar project enables Ceres to rely more on renewable electricity and less on conventional grid power.
