The launch is expected to help bridge subsurface geothermal development with large-scale surface power generation, enabling faster deployment of next-generation geothermal energy projects. The announcement comes at a time when electricity demand is increasing rapidly, driven by the expansion of data centers, artificial intelligence infrastructure, and broader electrification trends.

As a long-established player in the geothermal sector, Ormat believes geothermal energy can play a key role in meeting this growing demand by providing reliable, round-the-clock renewable power. With more than 60 years of experience in geothermal development, Ormat has built a strong presence across the renewable energy value chain.

The company has developed long-term partnerships with hyperscalers, data centers, and utility providers throughout the western United States. It also manages approximately 1,835MW of generation capacity connected to transmission networks and holds around 400,000 acres of geothermal leases across six states, providing a significant foundation for future geothermal expansion.

According to Ormat CEO Doron Blachar, the company is well-positioned to capitalize on rising electricity demand through its vertically integrated approach to geothermal development. He noted that Ormatโ€™s expertise across exploration, development, power generation, and operations gives it a competitive advantage in scaling next-generation geothermal technologies.Ormatโ€™s EGS strategy is built around two key components.

The first is the Ormega100 surface power generation platform, which has been specifically engineered to operate in the high-temperature conditions associated with EGS projects while delivering utility-scale power output. The second is the company’s ongoing subsurface development efforts, including two strategic EGS pilot programs that combine Ormatโ€™s industrial expertise with emerging geothermal technologies to unlock new geothermal resources.

By combining advanced surface generation technology with innovative subsurface development solutions, Ormat aims to accelerate the deployment of enhanced geothermal energy on a larger scale. With the Ormega100 launch and EGS pilot projects underway, the company is positioning itself to play a leading role in the next phase of geothermal energy development and support the growing global demand for dependable clean power.
