POWERGRID Commissions 3500 MW Solar Transmission Scheme In Andhra Pradesh

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Government of India Enterprise, has successfully commissioned a major transmission project in Andhra Pradesh to support large-scale solar power generation. The company announced the completion of the project through a regulatory filing submitted to the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE on June 27, 2026. According to the filing, the project became commercially operational on June 24, 2026.

The project, titled “Transmission Scheme for Solar Energy Zone in Ananthpuram (2500 MW) and Kurnool (1000 MW), Andhra Pradesh,” has been developed to strengthen the transmission network for renewable energy generated from the two major solar zones. The commissioning of this project is expected to improve the evacuation of solar power and support the growing renewable energy capacity in the state.

POWERGRID stated that it received the official Notification for Commercial Operation (DOCO) through email on June 26, 2026. The notification was dated June 25, 2026, confirming the project’s commercial operation.

The project also witnessed an important corporate restructuring during its implementation. It was originally assigned to POWERGRID Ananthpuram Kurnool Transmission Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of POWERGRID. However, following an order issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on January 27, 2026, the subsidiary was merged with POWERGRID Khawda II-C Transmission Limited with effect from March 1, 2026.

The company made the disclosure under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. The filing was signed by Anjana Luthra, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of POWERGRID. The successful completion of this project marks another important step in strengthening India’s renewable energy transmission infrastructure.
