POWERGRID has invited bids for a major transmission infrastructure project that will support the growing renewable energy sector in Tamil Nadu. The company has issued a retender for the 765kV AIS Substation Extension Package SS-105T as part of the upgrade of the Tuticorin Power Station to the 765 kV voltage level. The project is an important part of the transmission system planned to facilitate upcoming Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia projects in the Tuticorin region.
The tender has been issued under reference number CC/T/W-AIS/DOM/A10/26/08651 with RFX Number 5002005488. The bidding process will be conducted through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route. According to the tender notice, this is a pre-bid tie-up arrangement before POWERGRID submits its Request for Proposal (RfP) to the Bid Process Coordinator (BPC). The project falls under the “Works” category in the Power and Energy sector and is open to eligible domestic bidders across India.
POWERGRID has not fixed any tender fee or Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) for this procurement. Both the tender fee and EMD have been kept at zero, making participation easier for interested bidders. The overall tender value has also been shown as zero in the preliminary notice, as the final contract value will be determined through the competitive bidding process. Although no EMD is required at the bidding stage, the selected contractor will have to provide a Performance Bank Guarantee (PBG) after the award of the contract, in accordance with POWERGRID’s standard domestic contracting procedures.
The tender documents became available for download from June 25, 2026, at 6:04 PM. Interested bidders can download or purchase the documents until July 8, 2026, at 11:55 PM. Bid submission is allowed only through electronic mode on the designated portal. The online submission process also started on June 25, 2026, at 6:04 PM and will remain open until July 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
The technical bids will be opened on July 10, 2026, at 11:30 AM, shortly after the submission deadline. The complete bidding process is being carried out through POWERGRID’s PRANIT e-tendering portal. The tender is being managed by Prashant Verma, Engineer (CS), from POWERGRID’s office at Saudamini, Plot No. 2, Sector 29, Gurugram, Haryana. The project is expected to strengthen Tamil Nadu’s transmission infrastructure and improve grid readiness for integrating future green hydrogen and green ammonia developments into the national power network.
