The agreement was signed during Saudi Water Week 2026 in Jeddah in the presence of Mansour Al-Mushaiti, Vice Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA). The MoU was signed by Tarig Alghaffari, Vice President of Research & Promising Technologies and Board Member at SWA, and James Jin, President of LONGi Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

The partnership aims to support the modernization of Saudi Arabia’s water production, treatment, and distribution infrastructure while advancing the country’s sustainability and decarbonization objectives under Saudi Vision 2030.

Under the agreement, LONGi and SWA will collaborate on four strategic areas. These include the deployment of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, the exploration of green hydrogen and energy storage solutions, and the application of artificial intelligence (AI), smart monitoring technologies, and data analytics to optimize water network operations.

The MoU also focuses on strengthening local industrial capabilities through technology localization, supply chain development, and the assessment of manufacturing opportunities within Saudi Arabia. In addition, the partners will work on workforce development initiatives, including training programmes for Saudi nationals, as well as joint research, development, and pilot demonstration projects.

SWA said LONGi was selected for its technological expertise in solar energy and its commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s clean energy transition.

Commenting on the partnership, Tarig Alghaffari said the collaboration would contribute to improving the sustainability and operational efficiency of Saudi Arabia’s water infrastructure.

James Jin, President of LONGi MENA, said the agreement reflects the company’s long-term commitment to the Middle East and its focus on delivering clean energy solutions for critical infrastructure. He added that the partnership would explore scalable applications of solar energy and green hydrogen to support Saudi Arabia’s sustainability goals.

The agreement further strengthens cooperation between international clean energy technology providers and Saudi institutions as the Kingdom continues to expand renewable energy deployment, localize advanced technologies, and decarbonize critical infrastructure sectors under Vision 2030.
