NTPC Limited has invited bids for the development of 180 kWp solar photovoltaic (PV) projects across Belize, Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaica under domestic competitive bidding. The tender covers the design, engineering, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of solar PV systems in the three Caribbean countries. The projects are being implemented through grant funding provided by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, as part of its government-to-government development cooperation initiatives.
The proposed solar installations will operate in self-consumption and zero-export mode, allowing the generated electricity to be consumed at the respective project locations without exporting surplus power to the grid. The initiative reflects India’s continued efforts to support renewable energy development and strengthen international cooperation through the deployment of clean energy technologies in partner countries.
NTPC has specified that only bidders classified as Class-I local suppliers will be eligible to participate in the tender. The participating companies must demonstrate a minimum local content requirement of 75%, in accordance with the applicable domestic procurement guidelines. This requirement is intended to encourage domestic manufacturing, strengthen local supply chains, and promote greater participation of Indian suppliers in internationally funded renewable energy projects.
According to the tender schedule, the Invitation for Bids (IFB) was issued on November 4, 2026. The bidding documents will be available for download from November 11, 2026, at 18:00 hrs IST. Interested bidders can submit their queries until November 21, 2026. NTPC has scheduled an online pre-bid conference for November 19, 2026, at 10:30 hrs IST to address questions and clarify various aspects of the bidding requirements.
The deadline for submitting both techno-commercial and price bids is November 30, 2026, up to 13:00 hrs IST. The techno-commercial bids will be opened on the same day at 15:30 hrs IST. The date and time for opening the price bids will be communicated separately after the evaluation and opening of the techno-commercial submissions.
The tender also specifies the bid security requirements based on the number of projects for which a bidder intends to participate. Companies bidding for one project must submit an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of ₹5 lakh, while bidders participating in two or three projects must provide an EMD of ₹10 lakh.
The bidding document establishes a one-year Defect Liability Period. However, the specific Performance Bank Guarantee (PBG) amounts and applicable conditions are detailed in the tender documents available through the GePNIC portal. NTPC has further clarified that all bank guarantees must be submitted electronically through the National e-Governance Services Limited (NeSL) platform, as physical bank guarantees will not be accepted.
Through this tender, NTPC aims to facilitate the deployment of solar energy infrastructure in three Caribbean nations while advancing India’s international renewable energy cooperation initiatives.
