Berde Renewables, a portfolio company of I Squared Capital, has entered into a strategic partnership with Sungrow Power and its regional distributor Solar Hive to accelerate the deployment of solar and battery energy storage projects across the Philippines and Thailand.
The partnership is anchored by a Master Framework Agreement (MFA) under which Berde Renewables will procure 200 MW of solar inverters and 500 MWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) over the next three years for renewable energy projects in both countries.
The agreement is aimed at expanding access to cleaner, more reliable and cost-efficient energy solutions while supporting the growing demand for solar and energy storage across Southeast Asia.
Commenting on the partnership, Patrick Zhu, Chief Executive Officer of Berde Renewables, said:
“This partnership gives Berde the scale, technology, and regional support to deliver clean energy solutions with greater speed and confidence across the Philippines and Thailand.”
He added:
“The combination of 200 MW of solar and 500 MWh of battery storage is a major step forward for our business and a meaningful milestone, especially for battery storage in the Philippines as demand grows for more flexible and resilient energy solutions.”
Under the agreement, Berde Renewables will utilise Sungrow’s portfolio of solar inverters, battery energy storage systems, EV charging solutions and smart energy technologies. Solar Hive will provide regional logistics, technical support, spare parts and after-sales services across the Philippines and Thailand.
Michael Ruan, Regional Director for Southeast Asia at Sungrow Power, said:
“Sungrow, as the globally leading PV inverter and energy storage system provider, is confident it will help Berde Renewables accelerate the deployment of reliable, high-performance clean energy across Southeast Asia.”
David Zhang, Head of Sales and Business Development at Solar Hive, said the collaboration is expected to strengthen renewable energy deployment in the region while creating opportunities for future expansion into other Southeast Asian markets.
Beyond equipment supply, the three companies will collaborate on technical training and certification, joint market development initiatives, stakeholder engagement, as well as potential co-investment and vendor financing opportunities for selected renewable energy projects.
The partnership also enhances Berde Renewables’ ability to deliver integrated solar-plus-storage solutions under its Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) model, through which the company finances, develops, owns and operates renewable energy assets before transferring ownership to customers at the end of the contract period.
By combining 200 MW of solar capacity with 500 MWh of battery storage, the partnership is expected to support grid stability, enable daytime-to-evening energy shifting and help commercial and industrial customers reduce energy costs while improving energy resilience in the Philippines and Thailand.
