The Water Resources Department of the Government of Maharashtra has invited Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for two major development projects at the Ekrukh Reservoir in Solapur district. The notice has been issued by the Solapur Irrigation Division under EOI Notice No. 03 for 2026-2027. The department is seeking participation from experienced fisheries developers, solar energy companies, EPC contractors, and eligible consortiums for the proposed projects.
One of the proposed initiatives focuses on the development of a Floating Solar Photovoltaic (FSPV) project integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The project will be implemented on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis. The selected developer will be responsible for the design, development, operation, maintenance, and overall management of the floating solar power system. The project is expected to promote clean energy generation while making productive use of the reservoir’s water surface.
The second EOI relates to the development of fisheries and aquaculture activities at the Ekrukh Reservoir. Under this proposal, the selected developer will receive fishing rights for a period of 10 years. The government is inviting conceptual proposals aimed at improving fish production, promoting sustainable aquaculture practices, and enhancing the economic value of the reservoir through organized fisheries management.
Interested applicants are required to purchase the EOI documents by paying a non-refundable fee of INR 10,000 plus applicable GST for each project. The documents are available exclusively through the Maharashtra government’s e-procurement portal.
According to the schedule released with the notice, the EOI documents can be downloaded from July 6, 2026, to August 5, 2026. A pre-submission meeting has been scheduled for July 16, 2026, at 1:00 PM IST at the Office of the Chief Engineer in Solapur. The meeting will provide an opportunity for interested participants to seek clarifications regarding the project requirements and submission process.
The deadline for submitting proposals is August 5, 2026, by 12:00 PM IST through the online procurement portal. The EOI proposals will be opened on the same day at 12:00 PM IST or on the next working day if required.
The notice does not specify any Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) or Performance Bank Guarantee (PBG) requirements at this stage. These details may be provided during subsequent stages of the bidding process. Through these initiatives, the Maharashtra government aims to encourage private sector participation in renewable energy generation and sustainable fisheries development while maximizing the productive use of the Ekrukh Reservoir.
