SAEL Wins NTPC REL Order to Supply TOPCon Modules for 585.8 MWp Chitrakoot-1 Solar Project

SAEL Industries Ltd. has secured a major contract from NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd. (NTPC REL) for the supply of high-efficiency TOPCon solar photovoltaic (PV) modules for the 585.8 MWp Chitrakoot-1 Solar PV Project in Uttar Pradesh. The Letter of Award (LoA) has been awarded to SAEL Solar P6 Pvt. Ltd., the company’s solar manufacturing subsidiary, and covers the largest block of the Chitrakoot-1 project.

The order marks another significant milestone for SAEL as it continues to strengthen its position in India’s rapidly expanding renewable energy and domestic solar manufacturing sector. The company operates as a vertically integrated renewable energy player with businesses spanning utility-scale solar development, PV module manufacturing, and agri-waste-to-energy projects.

According to the company’s latest operational figures, SAEL had a contracted and awarded portfolio of 8,299 MWp of solar and energy storage projects as of September 2025. Its manufacturing operations currently include an annual TOPCon solar module assembly capacity of 3,625 MW, alongside 164.9 MW of agri-waste-to-energy capacity.

To further expand its manufacturing capabilities, SAEL is developing an integrated facility at Jewar in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, with plans to produce 5 GW of solar cells and 5 GW of solar modules annually. The project is expected to support India’s efforts to strengthen its domestic solar supply chain and reduce reliance on imported components.

The NTPC REL order also reflects the growing adoption of TOPCon technology in large-scale solar projects, driven by its higher efficiency and improved energy generation. As government-backed developers increasingly prioritize domestically manufactured, high-performance modules, companies with integrated manufacturing capabilities are well positioned to play a larger role in India’s renewable energy expansion.
