United Solar Appoints Todd Templeton as Director of the Americas to Drive U.S. Market Expansion

United Solar Holding Inc., a manufacturer of high-purity polysilicon for the global solar industry, has appointed Todd Templeton as Director of the Americas to lead the company’s commercial strategy, customer partnerships, and market development across the United States and the broader Americas.

The appointment comes as United Solar expands its presence in the U.S. market while ramping up production at its US$1.6 billion, 100,000-tonne-per-year polysilicon manufacturing facility in Sohar Freezone, Oman, which commenced operations in January 2026.

According to the company, Templeton will play a key role in strengthening customer relationships and supporting the development of a diversified, traceable, and Foreign Entity of Concern (FEOC)-compliant solar supply chain for manufacturers across the Americas.

Founded in 2023 by Sam Zhang and more than 50 industry veterans, United Solar manufactures high-purity polysilicon for tier-one solar manufacturers. The company said it is currently the only large-scale polysilicon producer operating outside FEOC-designated regions and aims to support greater supply chain diversification while meeting evolving U.S. and international regulatory requirements.

United Solar added that its operations adhere to stringent sustainability and environmental standards established by its financial backers, including the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, and other global financial institutions.

Templeton brings more than 20 years of experience in renewable energy and global supply chain management. Prior to joining United Solar, he served as Director of the Americas at NorSun, where he led commercial and supply chain activities for a planned 5 GW ingot and wafer manufacturing facility and secured multi-billion-dollar long-term offtake agreements. Earlier, he held the role of Chief Commercial Officer at CubicPV and 1366 Technologies, overseeing corporate development, strategic partnerships, and supply chain initiatives supporting U.S. solar manufacturing.

Commenting on the appointment, Sam Zhang, Founder and Chairman of United Solar, said Templeton’s commercial leadership, supply chain expertise, and policy experience would support the company’s expansion in the United States and strengthen partnerships with domestic solar manufacturers.

Templeton said United Solar is well positioned to support the growing U.S. solar manufacturing industry with a reliable, transparent, and FEOC-compliant source of polysilicon, adding that he looks forward to expanding the company’s partnerships across the region.

Templeton holds a Master of Engineering in Supply Chain Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M University.
