Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL), the flagship company of the Adani Group, has entered into a long-term partnership with Dioxycle, a France-based clean technology company, to develop and scale low-carbon chemical manufacturing in India.
The collaboration will begin with the establishment of a pilot facility at an Adani Group site to produce formic acid using captured carbon dioxide and renewable electricity. Following the successful demonstration of the technology, the partners plan to scale the process for commercial production.
Formic acid and its derivatives are widely used across industries such as textiles, agriculture and manufacturing. The project aims to demonstrate how captured carbon emissions can be converted into value-added chemicals through the use of renewable energy, supporting efforts to decarbonize industrial manufacturing.
The partnership combines Dioxycle’s electrically driven chemical manufacturing technology with Adani Group’s renewable energy capabilities, infrastructure platform and project execution expertise to establish a sustainable and cost-competitive model for chemical production.
Jeet Adani, Director at Adani Group, said the project represents India’s first formic acid production facility powered entirely by renewable electricity and captured carbon, adding that the collaboration demonstrates how strategic industrial partnerships can transform carbon emissions into valuable economic assets.
Sarah Lamaison, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Dioxycle, said the partnership highlights the potential of combining clean technology with industrial-scale execution. She noted that India’s renewable energy resources, manufacturing ecosystem and growth ambitions make it an attractive market for scaling low-carbon chemical production.
Beyond formic acid, Adani Enterprises and Dioxycle will explore opportunities to develop a wider portfolio of low-carbon chemicals for industries including energy, materials, packaging and manufacturing. The initiative is expected to support sectors that currently depend on fossil-based feedstocks and are seeking sustainable alternatives to reduce carbon emissions.
For Adani Group, the partnership marks a strategic entry into the chemicals sector, expanding its portfolio beyond renewable energy and infrastructure into advanced, future-focused manufacturing.
The collaboration also reflects growing India-Europe cooperation in clean technologies and aligns with India’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ initiatives by strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities, promoting technology-led industrial growth and supporting the country’s transition to a more sustainable economy.
