Driving the Next Era of Utility-Scale Solar & Storage: FIMER Unveils the PVS-990 at Intersolar Europe 2026

The global solar industry came together once again at Intersolar Europe 2026 in Munich, one of the world’s leading platforms for renewable energy innovation. Against the backdrop of accelerating energy transition and growing demand for utility-scale solar projects, FIMER marked a significant milestone with the launch of its next-generation PVS-990 Central Inverter & PCS (for BESS), reaffirming its commitment to delivering innovative, reliable, and scalable solutions for large-scale photovoltaic applications.

Designed specifically for multi-megawatt utility-scale solar plants, the PVS-990 is available in scalable power configurations ranging from 2 MW to 8 MW, giving developers greater flexibility to optimize plant architecture for projects of varying sizes. The inverter supports DC input voltages up to 1,500 VDC, enabling higher string lengths and lower balance-of-system costs, while its modular design allows for faster installation and simplified maintenance. Engineered for a minimum operational life of 25 years, the PVS-990 incorporates advanced grid support functions—including Fault Ride Through (FRT) and power quality management—to meet global grid code requirements. Extensive DC and AC-side protection, integrated industrial SCADA communication capabilities, and FIMER’s global lifecycle service network further ensure high plant availability and long-term operational reliability. Its compact footprint and modular design help optimize land utilization and accelerate project execution, enabling developers to reduce the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) while enhancing overall plant performance.

The PVS-990 also works as a Bi-Directional Converter (PCS) when used in Battery Energy Storage Solutions (BESS) applications. Designed to support both Grid Forming and Grid Following applications, FIMER’s PCS platform offers capabilities such as black start functionality, Static Var Generation (SVG), seamless transition, and compliance with global grid codes. These capabilities position FIMER to address the growing demand for integrated solar-plus-storage projects, enabling greater grid stability, renewable energy integration, and energy resilience.

The launch reflects FIMER’s approach of “Inverting Perspective”—looking beyond conventional product development to create solutions that solve real-world challenges faced by customers. Rather than focusing solely on increasing power ratings, the company has engineered the PVS-990 to improve the complete project lifecycle, from installation and commissioning to long-term operations and maintenance.

As the renewable energy sector enters its next phase of growth, FIMER remains committed to delivering solutions that help customers build smarter, more efficient, and more resilient solar power plants—turning innovation into lasting value for the industry and for a sustainable future.
