Enfinity Global, a renewable energy company, has entered into a strategic co-investment partnership with E Energy Invest, the investment vehicle of the Strioga Family Foundation, for a battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Livorno, Tuscany, Italy.
Under the agreement, the Strioga Family Foundation will acquire a 49.9% equity stake in a fully permitted 150 MW battery energy storage project with a four-hour duration and 600 MWh of storage capacity. Enfinity Global will retain a 50.1% controlling stake and will continue to oversee the project’s development, construction, and long-term asset management.
The Livorno project forms part of Enfinity Global’s 6.7 GW BESS development portfolio in Italy, aimed at enhancing grid flexibility, increasing renewable energy integration, improving energy security, and supporting greater electricity price competitiveness.
The company said its integrated portfolio of solar and battery storage projects, together with more than 1 GW of signed power purchase agreements (PPAs), Energy Release 2.0 agreements, and capacity secured through Italy’s FER X auctions, reinforces its position in the country’s energy transition.
The transaction also marks the entry of the Strioga Family Foundation into the Italian energy market. The foundation focuses on long-term investments in renewable energy, battery storage, climate technologies, energy efficiency, and other clean energy infrastructure projects across Europe.
According to Enfinity Global, the transaction forms part of its capital formation strategy, which brings minority equity partners into project portfolios while recycling capital to accelerate the deployment of additional renewable energy infrastructure. Over the past 12 months, the company has completed similar transactions with the sovereign wealth fund of Azerbaijan and other investors, covering renewable energy portfolios with a combined capacity exceeding 1.1 GW.
Gediminas Uloza, Chief Executive Officer of the Strioga Family Foundation, said the partnership represents the foundation’s fourth and largest investment in battery energy storage development, increasing its total commitments to European BESS projects to more than 2.5 GWh.
Carlos Domenech, Chief Executive Officer of Enfinity Global, said the partnership demonstrates the company’s ability to attract long-term institutional capital while accelerating the deployment of critical energy storage infrastructure needed to strengthen Italy’s electricity system and support the country’s energy transition.
Julio Fournier Fisas, General Manager for Europe at Enfinity Global, said battery energy storage will play a central role in Italy’s next phase of renewable energy development. He added that the company’s portfolio of more than 600 MW of authorized BESS projects positions it to support grid reliability, energy independence, and long-term electricity price stability.
