Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has been declared the successful bidder under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process for the development of an Interstate Transmission System (ISTS) project involving the installation of synchronous condenser units at the Fatehgarh-II substation. The company received the Letter of Intent (LoI) for the project on July 17, 2026.
The project, titled “Installation of 2 Nos. of Synchronous Condensers (SynCon) units at 765/400/220kV Fatehgarh-II PS,” will be implemented on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis under the TBCB framework.
As part of the project scope, POWERGRID will install and commission two synchronous condenser (SynCon) units at the Fatehgarh-II pooling station, along with the associated transmission bays. The project is aimed at strengthening the interstate transmission network and enhancing grid stability.
