MNRE’s 8th ALMM List-II Revision Adds New Solar Cell Makers and Advanced Technologies in India

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has continued to strengthen India’s domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem through regular updates to the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II for Solar PV Cells. Introduced in July 2025, the framework regulates approved solar photovoltaic cell manufacturers and ensures that only certified domestic products are used in eligible solar projects. Since its launch, the ministry has issued eight revisions up to July 2026, reflecting steady growth in manufacturing capacity, technology adoption, and product approvals.

The first ALMM List-II, released on July 31, 2025, included several leading manufacturers from across the country. Among them were Emmvee Energy in Karnataka, Premier Energies Photovoltaic and Premier Energies International in Telangana, Mundra Solar Energy and Mundra Solar PV in Gujarat, ReNew Photovoltaics, Jupiter International’s facilities in Himachal Pradesh, and FS India Solar Ventures in Tamil Nadu. Together, these companies represented a significant share of India’s domestic solar cell production capacity.

Over the following months, the list expanded as existing manufacturers increased their capacities and new companies entered the approved list. TP Solar joined in September 2025 with a 4,480 MW manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, while Tata Power Renewable Energy also secured approval. Websol Energy System from West Bengal expanded its approved capacity, and Waaree Energies received approvals for additional Mono PERC and TOPCon cell models.

During 2026, the ministry approved more advanced technologies, including high-efficiency TOPCon and Heterojunction (HJT) solar cells. Reliance Industries entered the list with HJT solar cells manufactured at its Jamnagar facility, while Evervolt Solar Technology, Jupiter Solartech, Renewsys India, and Premier Energies added new capacities and advanced cell models. FS India Solar Ventures also revised its eligible manufacturing capacity upward.

The latest eighth revision, issued on July 22, 2026, further expanded the list with Fujiyama Power Systems increasing its approved capacity to 1,077 MW and Avaada Electro joining as a new manufacturer with 610 MW of TOPCon solar cell capacity. Issued under the authority of Scientist-E Sanjay G. Karndhar and Scientist-D Priya, the revisions continue to maintain technical standards for efficiency, wattage, and product quality while supporting the growth of India’s domestic solar manufacturing industry.
