Emerge Renewables Commissions North India’s First 300 TPD Solar Glass Plant with 2.5 GW Annual Manufacturing Capacity

Emerge Renewables has successfully completed the furnace light-up of its dedicated solar glass manufacturing facility at the Keshwana Industrial Area in Kotputli-Behror, Rajasthan, marking the commissioning of North India’s first dedicated solar glass manufacturing plant.

The company said the facility is expected to strengthen India’s domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem by enhancing local solar glass production, reducing import dependence and supporting the country’s clean energy transition.

Backed by the 22-year legacy of the Alstone Group and 14 years of Emerge Glass, Emerge Renewables combines decades of glass manufacturing expertise with advanced production technologies to manufacture high-performance solar glass that meets global quality standards.

The new facility has a manufacturing capacity of 300 tonnes per day (TPD), equivalent to 2.5 GW annually, and is capable of producing solar glass in thicknesses ranging from 1.80 mm to 5.00 mm.

According to the company, the plant will help solar module manufacturers in North India improve operational efficiency and profitability through shorter lead times, lower inventory requirements and enhanced customer support due to its proximity to the region’s growing renewable energy manufacturing cluster.

Emerge Renewables said the project was completed in record time and expects the plant’s production capacity to be fully utilised, citing a supply deficit of solar glass among module manufacturers in North India.

The company added that the facility forms part of its broader expansion strategy to build a diversified glass manufacturing business. Alongside the new solar glass plant, the group operates facilities capable of producing 210 tonnes per day of sheet glass, 210 tonnes per day of flint glass bottles, and 240 tonnes per day of coloured glass bottles, with a combined glass melting capacity of approximately 1,000 tonnes per day.

Emerge Glass is also planning a manufacturing expansion in Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, to cater to growing demand in South India while expanding into cosmetic glass packaging.

He added that the project reflects the company’s vision of building world-class manufacturing capabilities to support India’s clean energy ambitions through high-quality solar glass production.

The company said the commissioning of the solar glass manufacturing plant marks a significant milestone in India’s renewable energy manufacturing sector as it continues to expand domestic capabilities across the solar value chain.
