Vikram Solar Limited, one of India’s leading solar photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturers, has been awarded the EcoVadis Platinum Medal for 2026, marking the second consecutive year that the company has received the highest sustainability recognition from global sustainability assessment platform EcoVadis.
The company achieved an overall score of 88/100, improving from 84/100 in the previous year. The rating places Vikram Solar in the 99th percentile of companies assessed by EcoVadis, ranking among the top 1% of companies globally.
According to the company, the score is currently the highest in the solar PV sector at the group level, covering Vikram Solar’s global operations, based on EcoVadis research as of July 2026.
Vikram Solar improved its performance across all four EcoVadis assessment categories — Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.
Commenting on the achievement, Gyanesh Chaudhary, Chairman and Managing Director, Vikram Solar, said the recognition reflects the company’s continued focus on embedding sustainability into its operations.
“Earning the EcoVadis Platinum Medal for a second consecutive year, and improving our score across every vertical, tells us that sustainability at Vikram Solar is not a one-time achievement but a discipline we practise every day. To be placed among the top 1% of companies worldwide once again affirms that responsible manufacturing and long-term value creation are one and the same pursuit,” Chaudhary said.
He added that the company has strengthened its sustainability initiatives through measurable actions, including the release of its first Annual Sustainability Report for FY26.
As part of its sustainability efforts, Vikram Solar completed a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in accordance with ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 standards and a Product Carbon Footprint assessment under ISO 14067 for its Hypersol module. The company also achieved independent verification and assurance of its greenhouse gas emissions in line with ISO 14064 standards.
The company has secured ISO 50001:2018 energy management system certification across all its manufacturing facilities. It has also reported improvements in water reuse and recycling, greenhouse gas intensity reduction through backward integration and domestic sourcing, adoption of electric vehicles, and resource conservation initiatives.
Vikram Solar has further strengthened its circular economy practices in alignment with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements and other sustainability measures.
During the year, the company received several sustainability and safety recognitions, including the Gold Award at the 23rd Greentech Safety, Fire & Security (SFS) Awards, the CII EHS Excellence Silver Award for its manufacturing facilities, and Premium Membership of the British Safety Council.
The company said the EcoVadis Platinum recognition reinforces its commitment to responsible solar manufacturing while supporting India’s transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy ecosystem.
