Renewable energy company Zelestra has expanded its partnership with Tesla by signing a 140 MWac power purchase agreement (PPA) for electricity from the Lumen Farm solar project in Texas, marking the latest collaboration between the two companies across multiple markets.
The agreement builds on an existing partnership established in 2024, when Zelestra signed a 57 MWac PPA with Tesla for electricity generated by the Brazatortas I, II and IV solar plants in the Castilla-La Mancha region of Spain.
Zelestra expects to begin construction of the Lumen Farm solar project in northeast Texas by 2027, with commercial operations anticipated to commence in 2029.
Commenting on the agreement, Phil North, CEO of Zelestra US, said the company is pleased to extend its relationship with Tesla into the US market.
“As a trusted global partner, we can deliver bespoke solutions for clients in multiple geographies. As such, we are excited to expand our relationship with Tesla to the US. We aim to deliver the project and bring the new solar plant online as quickly as possible to support Tesla’s growing energy needs in Texas,” North said.
The company said the agreement reflects its strategy of providing multi-technology renewable energy solutions to support the growing electricity requirements of hyperscalers, corporate customers and other large energy users.
Zelestra is currently developing a renewable energy portfolio exceeding 16 GW across key markets, reinforcing its position in the US clean energy sector through utility-scale solar and other renewable energy projects.
