The contract, awarded through a Domestic Competitive Bidding process, covers the design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, supply, erection and commissioning of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) equipment to augment transformation capacity at three POWERGRID substations located in Magarwada (Dadra & Nagar Haveli), Vadnagar (Gujarat) and Rajgarh (Madhya Pradesh).

Under the project, Vikran Engineering will execute the construction of 400/220 kV GIS bays and associated works under two integrated contracts covering the supply of equipment and related services. The project aims to enhance transformation capacity at key transmission nodes to improve grid reliability, strengthen inter-regional power transmission and increase power evacuation capabilities across Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.

Commenting on the development, Chairman and Managing Director Rakesh Markhedkar said the order reflects POWERGRID’s continued confidence in Vikran Engineering’s engineering expertise and project execution capabilities. He added that the contract further strengthens the company’s long-standing relationship with India’s central transmission utility and reinforces its position in the high-voltage GIS substation segment.
