Solmacher Solar Energy has signed an agreement with Huawei Digital Power for the supply of a 40 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) and utility and commercial and industrial (C&I) inverters for a smart microgrid project in the Maldives.
The microgrid will combine a 16 MWp solar farm, 40 MWh BESS and diesel generators (DGs) and is expected to be the largest project of its kind in the Maldives. The system is designed to enable more than 70% of the energy demand at the Royal Rosewood Resort Island to be met through renewable energy sources.
The agreement covers the supply of Huawei Digital Power’s energy storage and inverter solutions, supporting the integration of solar generation with energy storage and existing diesel generation. The project aims to improve renewable energy utilisation while supporting a more resilient and efficient power supply for the resort island.
The agreement was signed by Wassim Ayoubi, Founder and Managing Director of Solmacher Solar Energy, and Wang Qiang, Managing Director of Huawei Digital Power for the Multi-GCC Representative Office.
