The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has announced the auction results for its 1,500 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) peak power tender, with tariffs discovered in a narrow range of ₹5.99/kWh to ₹6/kWh. The tender provides assured peak power supply for four hours, equivalent to 6,000 MWh (1,500 MW × 4 hours).
Three bidders qualified for the final bidding stage: Waaree Forever Energies, a subsidiary of Waaree Energies, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), and ACME Solar Holdings.
Waaree Forever Energies emerged as the largest successful bidder, securing 700 MW/2,800 MWh at a tariff of ₹5.99/kWh. NTPC REL was awarded 500 MW/2,000 MWh at ₹6/kWh, while ACME Solar Holdings secured 300 MW/1,200 MWh at the same tariff of ₹6/kWh.
The auction follows SECI’s Request for Selection (RfS) issued in June 2026 under the SECI-FDRE-IX programme. The initial RfS sought developers for 1,200 MW/4,800 MWh of ISTS-connected renewable energy projects. It was subsequently amended to procure assured peak supply of 6,000 MWh from 1,500 MW of ISTS-connected renewable energy projects, with four hours of peak supply each day.
The auction outcome highlights growing demand for firm and dispatchable renewable power in India, supporting grid reliability and the integration of variable renewable energy sources.
