NTPC REL Secures 500 MW in SECI FDRE-IX

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited, has secured 500 MW under SECI’s FDRE-IX tender at a discovered tariff of ₹6/kWh. The tender seeks assured peak power from ISTS-connected renewable energy projects and covers a total requirement of 6,000 MWh, equivalent to 1,500 MW supplied for four hours. NTPC REL secured one-third of the total tendered capacity following the electronic reverse auction held on August 21, strengthening its position in India’s expanding firm and dispatchable renewable energy market.

POWERGRID Tenders 265 MW/530 MWh BESS in Haryana

POWERGRID has invited bids for developing a 265 MW/530 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Haryana through Tariff Based Competitive Bidding. Identified as Package HR-BESS-01, the project is intended to expand large-scale storage infrastructure and improve grid flexibility while facilitating renewable energy integration. Tender documents became available on August 24, with bidders required to submit both online and hard-copy proposals by August 31, 2026. The project represents another significant step in India’s accelerating deployment of standalone grid-scale battery storage capacity.

India’s Renewable Generation Crosses 38,497 MU

India’s renewable electricity generation, excluding large hydropower, reached 38,497.76 MU in July 2026, registering year-on-year growth of 17.27%, according to CEA data. Solar generation stood at 18,082.3 MU, while wind crossed 18.505 BU for the first time. Together, the two sources contributed about 96.14% of renewable generation during the month. Installed solar capacity reached 164,594.75 MW and wind capacity 58,136.89 MW by July-end, highlighting the continued expansion of India’s clean energy sector and the growing requirement for transmission, storage and grid flexibility.

REC Transfers Luhri Transmission SPV to Terralight

REC Limited, through subsidiary RECPDCL, has completed the transfer of Luhri Power Transmission Limited to Terralight Solar Energy Tinwari Private Limited. Terralight was selected as the successful bidder through a tariff-based competitive bidding process. The transaction involved the transfer of RECPDCL’s entire shareholding of 50,000 equity shares along with associated assets and liabilities for a total consideration of approximately ₹14.13 crore. Following completion on August 21, Luhri Power Transmission ceased to be a subsidiary of REC and RECPDCL, with Terralight assuming responsibility for the transmission project.

OREDA Invites Empanelment for Rooftop Solar

Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) has invited contractors for empanelment to develop on-grid rooftop solar PV systems across government offices, institutions and buildings in Odisha. The scope covers design, engineering, supply, installation, testing and commissioning, along with five years of comprehensive maintenance. Contractors will be empanelled under three categories based on financial and technical eligibility. Selected agencies must complete installations within 90 days of receiving an award, followed by charging and net-meter commissioning within another 30 days. Online bids are scheduled for submission by September 11, 2026.

POWERGRID Wins ₹822.91 Crore Gujarat RE Transmission Project

POWERGRID has emerged as the successful bidder to develop an Inter-State Transmission System supporting renewable energy integration in Gujarat. Awarded at a discovered tariff of ₹822.91 crore per annum, the project will facilitate power evacuation from the 5,500 MW Jam Khambhaliya REZ Phase II and 1,000 MW Jamnagar Phase-I renewable projects. POWERGRID will implement the system on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer basis. The scope includes a new GIS substation at Kalyanpur, augmentation and bay-extension works, and extensive 765 kV transmission infrastructure to strengthen renewable power evacuation.

KELTRON Tenders Solar and Street Light Projects

Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (KELTRON) has invited Expressions of Interest to empanel implementation partners for solar power plants and solar street light projects across North and East India. Selected agencies will undertake complete EPC activities, including surveys, engineering, material supply, installation, testing, commissioning, training, maintenance and warranty support. Applicants must have relevant renewable or power-sector experience and demonstrate experience in installing or supplying at least 20,000 solar street lights. Proposals are due by September 4, 2026, with the empanelment initially remaining valid for one year.
