National Housing Company (NHC) and EDF Power Solutions have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Paris to explore opportunities for sustainable energy solutions across NHC’s developments in Saudi Arabia. The agreement was signed in the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The signing was attended by Mohammad Albuty, CEO of NHC, and Béatrice Buffon, CEO of EDF Power Solutions. The partnership aims to support the development of more efficient, connected and resilient communities while contributing to Saudi Arabia’s sustainability and energy objectives under Vision 2030.
Under the MoU, the two companies will explore several areas of cooperation. These include smart and sustainable lighting solutions designed to improve energy efficiency and support connected communities. The partnership will also assess opportunities for solar and other renewable energy solutions across NHC’s developments.
Electric vehicle charging infrastructure is another key area of cooperation, with the companies looking to support the Kingdom’s transition towards more sustainable mobility. The collaboration will also examine initiatives focused on reducing carbon emissions and developing carbon credits, including methods to measure and lower emissions from projects.
In addition, NHC and EDF Power Solutions will explore technical and economic studies, as well as pilot projects, to evaluate the feasibility of future sustainable energy initiatives.
The MoU represents an initial framework for cooperation between the two companies and could support the integration of renewable energy, energy efficiency and low-carbon technologies into future residential and urban developments in Saudi Arabia. The partnership aligns with the Kingdom’s broader efforts to improve sustainability, quality of life and energy efficiency as part of its Vision 2030 development agenda.
