Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has invited bids for setting up 265 MW/530 MWh of standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Haryana. The project, identified as “Package HR-BESS-01,” will be developed through the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route.
The tender has been issued under Tender Reference Number CC/T/W-BESS/DOM/A01/26/11895 and is available through POWERGRID’s PRANIT e-tendering portal under RFx Number 5002005606. The works contract is aimed at supporting the development of large-scale energy storage infrastructure in the state, which can help improve grid flexibility and facilitate the integration of renewable energy.
The tender is being managed by Kapil Mandil, Deputy General Manager, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, Sector-29, Gurgaon. The tender fee has been fixed at INR 25,000, while the Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) is listed as zero. The tender notice also shows the estimated tender value as INR 0. Detailed provisions related to performance security, including the Performance Bank Guarantee (PBG), eligibility requirements and other technical and financial conditions are provided in the official tender documents.
According to the tender schedule, publication of the tender and commencement of document sales took place on August 24, 2026, at 7:02 PM. Interested bidders can purchase the tender documents until August 29, 2026, at 11:55 PM.
The bid submission process also started on August 24 at 7:02 PM. Bidders are required to submit both soft copies through the PRANIT portal and hard copies to the designated POWERGRID office. The final deadline for submission of both soft and hard copies is August 31, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
The bids are scheduled to be opened on August 31, 2026, at 11:30 AM. Domestic bidders meeting the prescribed eligibility and qualification requirements can participate in the procurement process.
The 265 MW/530 MWh BESS project represents another major step in the expansion of grid-scale energy storage capacity in India. Standalone BESS installations are increasingly important for balancing electricity supply and demand, supporting renewable energy integration and improving the reliability and flexibility of the power grid.
