The auction was conducted on August 21, 2026, under SECI’s competitive tariff-based bidding process, identified as SECI-FDRE-IX. The tender was floated for the selection of Renewable Energy Power Developers to supply assured peak power from Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected renewable energy projects across India.

The tender covers a total assured peak power requirement of 1,500 MW for four hours, equivalent to 6,000 MWh of energy supply. The objective is to support reliable renewable power availability during peak demand periods and strengthen the integration of renewable energy into the national grid.

NTPC REL participated in the competitive e-reverse auction and secured 500 MW of the contracted capacity at a discovered tariff of ₹6.00 per kWh. The successful bid adds further capacity to NTPC Green Energy’s growing renewable energy portfolio.

The contract is expected to contribute to NTPC REL’s strategy of expanding its presence in the renewable energy sector while supporting the country’s increasing requirement for dependable clean power. Peak power projects combining renewable generation with assured supply are becoming increasingly important as India adds large volumes of variable solar and wind capacity to its electricity system.
